Hey everyone! Actually I wish to post my ‘tale’ earlier which mentioned by Niel but unfortunately my new signed-up internet service P1 Wimax is under maintenance the whole day. However, thank God I got back online now! =)
Today was my programme (Cambdrige A Level) orientation day so I had to wake up early in the morning to prepare everything. I went to my college with my housemate. He’s from Iraq and thank God again he is doing the same programme with me or otherwise I might be alone. Along my journey, I met one of my DOTAmate, ex-Blueserverian Elton Luo a.k.a. Dancing Frog or Xrev[Dfrog] at the entrance of the college before entering the Multi Purpose hall where the orientation and briefing is held on. After that, we got a few hours of briefing by the Academic Director, Mr. Thou Kok Cheng, Programme Director, Mrs. Mary Ng, Mr. Charles Mervyn on the ICT facilities and Ms Angela Pok on Student Services, Counseling & ECA during the orientation. At the middle-break, I met another DOTAmate, ex-Blueserverian too named Leon a.k.a. lh_2705 from Clan Voda. He actually looks cooler and cuter than I expect. Anyway, he’s doing his South Australian Matriculation.
Soon, I got to know where my class is. My class named 0901PM1 which stands for 2009 JAN intake and the PM1 might be Pre-Medicine 1 because majority of us is preparing to do medicine in the future. Besides, I met my classmate and my mentor (lecturer). I have only met the biology lecturer, Mr. Agas for now. Maybe I’ll meet more of my lecturers tomorrow. Then here comes the ice-breaking session leaded by our seniors. They were Alex Chai, Pei jie, and Alison Lee. Well, we actually got to know each other better after playing the ice-breaking game arranged by them. There were more briefing after that such as meeting members of the CAL Student Council and short briefing for students form outside the Klang Valley. That’s all for today in the college I guess. :D
So, I’m about to start my college life. If any of my junior ask me about what’s college life really like? It’s active. It’s social. It’s independent. It’s exciting. Like a lot of things, it’s about balance. We have to balance between work and play, friends and studies, homesickness and excitement, family life and independence. However, it is always easier to say than put it into action. No matter how hard or how long we plan for college, it’s filled with surprises, from dorm conflicts and academic rigors to the relationship maze and campus logistics. Good balancing is the key to survive =)
Meanwhile, there are a lot of things happening right now. For instance, expect to have moments it seems a bit too much. Be prepared to feel completely unprepared. The trick to tackle this is to know that you’re not the only one feeling that way. =D
Another difference between high school and college is that on top of all the academic stuff, I’m now currently responsible for housing, food, laundry, cleaning bills, money and social life. So I have to prioritize and manage my time. No more DOTA! :(
Okay. That’s all for today. I better hit the sack now or otherwise I can’t wake up for the early lesson tomorrow.
Sign off,
