I went to a briefing held by Kemayan ATC this morning.
Me and my father went there together with Hua Sheng. We were rather nervous as we watched the students there and they eyed at us too. At least I was. My hands and feet seemed larger than normal =). Most of the students there could be heard conversing in English, and that was rather unnerving too. Being educated since a kid at a Chinese primary, we were not too comfortable to be around them English-educated. No offence though. My dad chuckled at our faces and advised us to get familiar with the setting. After all, we could be studying here for months, maybe even years.
After signing in with the clerk, we got into the lecture room where a handful of to-be students accompanied by their parents were already waiting. Me and HS got into our seats while Dad went to sit at the far back. I studied the people there. A few Indians and Chinese boys were there, chatting in hushed tones, but there wasn't any girls of any race. I kicked myself in the gut. This is going to be rather interesting. Of course, a friend from ATC had forewarned me about this before; I was still amused though.
Dr.Lee Kar Ling entered the room armed with her laptop. After greeting us she started straight away with the day's briefing, explaining the A Levels course. When she finished, several people raised their hands to inquire. The entire process lasted about an hour, and everyone left in good grace.
I looked at HS, and he told me that he would have to discuss with his parents first before deciding to go for which intake. The same thought occupied my mind too. The thought of 'what are the other options?' always owned at this point. And indeed, as this is pertinent to our future, we ought weight our choices carefully and prudently.
We left ATC, heads fuller and eyes deeper. Are we coming back, I don't have the answer. Perhaps another golden crab might bite out of no where.
